Marvel at the almost unimaginable world of heat and pressure beneath our feet, in this action-packed science show. Students will shoulder the weight of the world’s tectonic plates, consider the geological attributes of a deep-fried Mars bar, build a mountain range and explore the geophysics of cold custard. If you’re unlucky, the Museum’s own volcano might just erupt.
The learning themes for this activity are:
· the structure of Earth
- tectonic activity at plate boundaries and its effect on landscape and people
- the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes
- formation of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks
45 minutes, 120 places.
This activity is also available on 2, 3, 4, 5 March.
