This new interactive event highlights the role that Museum research plays in wider society and real life science. Students are placed in a scenario in which a mystery disease has broken out and threatens to spread with fatal consequences. A mixture of news clips, interviews with scientists and pathologists and opportunities for facilitated discussion allows students to take on the role of experts who must find a way to contain the disease. Using our voting system, students are able to make decisions that influence the outcome of the scenario. This is a fast-paced event in which students will gain a greater understanding of how public health decisions are made and the wide range of institutions that are involved.
40 minutes, 60 places.
This activity is also available on 13, 15, 22, 27, January, 3, 5, 12, 24 February, and 5, 10, 17, 31 March. It is suitable for Key Stage 4.
