Shortlisted Schools Compete for National LOtC Award
The first round of the LOtC Awards for Excellence & Innovation came to a close at the end of July with nominations pouring in from schools across the country each vying for one of the top national LOtC Awards.
The panel of judges had a huge task of whittling down the nominations to the final few who will now enter the second stage of judging and a chance to win the overall prize and a tailor made residential provided by, TUI Education Division.
Beth Gardner, Chief Executive of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom said: “We are delighted to have seen a record number of entries this year. All the shortlisted schools have been recognised for their determination to make LOtC integral to the curriculum and the judges will have a tough job choosing the winning schools. I’d like to wish the finalists the very best of luck in the competition”.
Twenty seven schools now have just over 4 weeks to impress the judges with evidence that their inspiring and creative LOtC activities have a positive impact on the children and young people in their care. Not only will the finalists be competing for the title of Regional Winner but they will be aiming for one of several other national prizes including Best LOtC Provision for 7-11yrs and Best LOtC Provision for 11-19yrs sponsored by PGL and NST. The winners will be announced a the LOtC Awards Ceremony on the 6th December in Nottingham with special guest Bill Tidy, MBE, TV & radio presenter and well known cartoonist.
